ASTM B563-01 pdf free.Standard Specification for Palladium-Silver-Copper Electrical Contact Alloy.
This specification covers an alloy containing palladium, silver, copper, platinum, and nickel in the form of wire, rod, and strip for electrical contacts.
The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The Sl units given in parentheses are forinformation only. The following precautionary statement pertains to thetest method portion only,Section 7, of this specification: Thisstandard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns,if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the userof this standard to establish appropriate safety and healthpractices and determine the applicability of regulatory limita-tions prior to use.

Materials and Manufacture:Raw materials shall be of such quality and purity thatthe finished product will have the properties and characteristicsprescribed in this specification. The material shall be finished by such operations (coldworking, heat treating, annealing, turning, grinding, pickling)and are required to produce the prescribed properties.Material produced under this specification shall meet therequirements of chemical composition shown in Table 1. The contract or order may specify ultimate tensilestrength, elongation, microhardness (Knoop or Vickers), hard-ness (Rockwell or Rockwell Superficial),or a combination ofthese mechanical properties as temper criterion. If the contractor order does not specify a temper criterion, then the criterionfor temper designation will be ultimate tensile strength andelongation. The material shall conform to the mechanical propertiesshown in Table 2,Table 3, or Table 4.General Requirements: Specification B 476 shall apply to all materials producedto this specification.Test Methods:Test methods are in accordance with SpecificationB 476.Hardness is in accordance with Test Method E 384.Testmaterial 0.005 in. (0.13 mm) in thickness (diameter) and largerusing a 100 g indenter load. Test material less than 0.005 in. inthickness (diameter) using a 50 g indenter load. Make aminimum of five hardness indentations on each specimen.Make all indentations so that the long axis of the Knoopindenter is parallel to the rolling or drawing direction of thematerial.
Perform chemical analysis by spectrochemical or wetanalysis methods.Conduct all tests at room temperature (65 to 85°F), (18to 29°C).ASTM B563 pdf download.
