The aluminum cross-sectional area (Section 14) andthe diameter (Section 15) shall be measured on a sample ofcompleted conductor. At least one sample shall be tested oneach size of conductor on each order of quantities from 5000 to100 000 ft (1500 to 30 000 m), and one additional sampletested from each 100 000 ft thereafter. Tests for the mechanical and electrical properties ofwire composing the conductor shall be made before, but notafter stranding, unless otherwise agreed by the manufacturerand the purchaser as provided in 17.2 (Explanatory Note 2).17.2 At the option of the purchaser, at the time of placingthe order, tension and elongation tests of wire before strandingmay be waived, and the completed conductor may be tested as a unit. The minimum breaking strength of conductors so testedshall be not less than the rated strength of 1350-H19 conduc-tors or the minimum rated strength of 1350-H16,-H26,-H14,-H24,-H142, and -H242 conductors if failure occurs in the freelength at least 1 in. (25 mm) beyond the end of either grippingdevice, or shall be not less than 95 % of the rated or minimumrated strength if failure occurs inside, or within 1 in. of the endof either gripping device.The maximum breaking strength of1350-H16，-H26，-H14,-H24,-H142,and -H242 conductorsshall be not greater than their maximum rated strengths. Thefree length between grips of the test specimen shall be not lessthan 24 in. (600 mm) and care shall be taken to ensure that thewires in the conductor are evenly gripped during the test(Section 8 and Explanatory Note 3).Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchaseorder，the manufacturer shall be responsible for the perfor-mance of all inspection and test requirements specified.All inspections and tests shall be made at the place ofmanufacture unless otherwise especially agreed to between themanufacturer and the purchaser at the time of the purchase.18.3 The manufacturer shall afford the inspector represent-ing the purchaser all reasonable facilities to satisfy him that thematerial is being furnished in accordance with this specification. Package sizes for conductors shall be agreed upon bythe manufacturer and the purchaser in the placing of individualorders.The conductors shall be protected against damage inordinary handling and shipping.There shall be only one length of conductor on a reelunless otherwise agreed upon by the manufacturer and pur-chaser at time of placing order. The net mass，length (and number of lengths, if morethan one length is included in the package)，size,kind ofconductor，purchase order number，and any other marks re-quired by the purchase order shall be marked on a tag attachedto the end of the conductor inside of the package.The sameinformation, together with the manufacturer’s serial number (ifany) and all shipping marks required by the purchaser，shallappear on the outside of each package.ASTM B400 pdf download.
