IEEE 252-1977 pdf free.IEEE Test Procedure for Polyphase Induction Motors Having Liquid in the Magnetic Gap.
This Test procedure covers instructions forconducting and reporting the more generallyapplicable and acceptable tests to determinethe performance characteristics of polyphaseinduction motors having liquid in the magneticgap.Constants in several equations and formsapply to three-phase motors only and requiremodification for application to motors havinganother number of phases. It is not intendedthat the Procedure cover all possible tests ortests of a research nature. The Procedure shallnot be interpreted as requiring the making ofany or all of the tests described herein in anygiven transaction.
2.1 Kinds of Tests. These motors are normallygiven either a routine test or a complete test2.1.1 Routine Test. The routine test includesmeasurement ofspeed, power input, andcurrent input at no load, rated voltage andfrequency; power input and current input withlocked rotor; and, winding resistance, insulationresistance, and dielectric test. The locked rotortest may also be performed with single-phasepower applied to the motor. Form 1 may beused for reporting such data.
2.1.2Complete Test. The complete testincludes a routine test plus additional testsnecessary to determine efficiency, power factor, starting torque, breakdown torque,rated-loadslip, and ratedload temperature rise.
Form 2 may be used for reporting such data.Additional tests, such as measurement of noise, vibration, and speed-torquecharacteristics which are described in this Test Procedure, and other tests, such as measurement ofshaft currents which are not covered in thisTest Procedure, may be used.
2.2 Choice of Test. A complete list of testscovered by this Procedure is given in theContents. Alternate methods are described formaking many of the tests. In some cases thepreferred method is indicated.
3.1 General. Electrical measurements shall bemade in accordance with theIEEEStd 120-1955,Master Test Code for Electrical Measurementsin Power Circuits.
3.2 Power Supply. The supply voltage shallclosely approach sine-wave form and shall pro-vide balanced phase voltages. The frequencyshall be closely regulated and shall be measuredwithin an accuracy of0.1 percent of rated value.3.3 Instrument Selection. The instruments usedin electrical measurements shall be selected togive indications well up on the scale, ie, wherea fraction of a division is easily estimated andwhere such a fraction is a small percentage ofthe value read.
3.4 Instrument Transformers. When currentand potential instrument transformersareused, corrections shall be made for ratioerrors in voltage and current measurementsand for ratio and phase-angle errors in powermeasurements.IEEE 252 pdf download.
