ASTM B522-01 pdf free.Standard Specification for Gold-Silver-Platinum Electrical Contact Alloy.
This specification covers 69 % gold,25 % silver,6 %platinum alloy tubing, rod, wire, and sheet material for slidingelectrical contacts.
The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The metric equivalents of inch-pound unitsmay be approximate.
This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns,if any, associated with its use. lt is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use. it is the responsibility of the user to become familiarwith all hazards including those identified in the appropriateMaterial Safety Data Sheet for this product/material as pro-vided by the manufacturer.Referenced Documents2.1 ASTM Standards:B476Specification for General Requirements for WroughtPrecious Metal Electrical Contact Materials Raw materials shall be of such quality and purity thatthe finished product will have the properties and characteristicsprescribed in this specification. The material shall be finished by such operations (coldworking, annealing, turning, grinding, pickling) as are requiredto produce the prescribed properties.Material produced under the specification shall meet therequirements for chemical composition prescribed in Table 1.5. Mechanical and Electrical Requirements. The contract or order may specify ultimate tensilestrength, elongation, microhardness (Knoop or Vickers), hardness (Rockwell or Rockwell Superficial), or a combination ofthese mechanical properties as temper criterion. If the contractor order does not specify a temper criterion, then the criterionfor temper designation will be ultimate tensile strength andelongation.
Knoop hardness indentations shall be made so that thelong axis of the indenter is parallel to the rolling or drawingdirection of the material.
Mechanical and electrical properties shall conform tothe requirements of Table 2 and Table 3.
All test specimens shall be the supplied size whenpractical. All tests are to be conducted at room temperature (65 to80°F) (18 to 27°C).Specification B 476 shall apply to all materials producedto this specification.Material furnished under this specification shall beinspected by the manufacturer as follows:Temper test (hardness or tensile),7.1.3 Dimensional tests, and Spectrographic or chemical analysis when indicatedby the purchase order. The purchaser shall perform such tests as are required toverify the quality of material procured under this specification.ASTM B522 pdf download.
