This specification covers standard nominal sizes andsize tolerances of screened ferroalloy and alloy additiveproducts. This specification provides a range of sizes asreferenced in all ASTM specifications for ferroalloys and alloyadditives.
The sizes and tolerances allow for varying degrees offriability upon receipt of material since some attrition may beexpected in transit，storage, and handling.Specifications of sieve sizes used to define tolerancesare listed in Specification E11.Representative procedures forevaluation of each lot are described in Test Methods A610.Refer to Appendix X1 for applicable sieve designations (seeTable X1.1).The values stated in either Sl units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. Thevalues stated in each system may not be exact equivalents;therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other.Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the standard.This specification is expressed in both inch-poundunits and in SI units (within the text, the SI units are shown inbrackets); however，unless the purchase order or contractspecifies the applicable M specification designation (SI units),the inch-pound units shall apply.
