The use of a conduit System or a cable ducting system as a horizontal pathway system for
telecommunication cabling is only considered in any of the following circumstances:
(a) It is required by local regulations.
(b) It is required to meet building occupant requirements for security and tamper prevention.
(c) Outlet locations arc permanent.
(d) Device densities are low.
(e) Flexibility is not required.
In-floor conduit systems arc especially inflexible when buried in concrete. hut may provide a solution for distribution installed during renovation of historic buildings with wooden timber beam structure and timber floor surface construction if ceiling spaces or wall cavities are not available.
7.5.2 Conduit design considerations General

Conduit fill factor comprising Ithe sum of cable cross sectional areasj/[conduit inner cross sectional area] shall not exceed the requirements of AS/NZS ISOIEC 14763.2 for straight conduit runs. For a new installation this should be 24% (comprising 40% ultimate fill less 40% of this as spare capacity).
The conduit nIl factor shall be reduced by 6% fill per 900 sweeping bend in any run between draw access points.
Where an earth or SELV d.c. power cable or blown fibre tube assembly is installed in a conduit with other telecommunications cables it shall (for the purposes of determining the required conduit diameter) be regarded as another telecommunications cable of equal physical size.
