Forundated references, the latestedition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.ISO/IEC 22123-1:1), Information technology – Cloud computing — Part 1:Terminology
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in ISO/IEC 22123-1 and thefollowing apply.
A common technology is one that is used to implement one or more of the functional components ofcloud computing described in ISO/IEC 17789:2014,9.212! cloud computing reference architecture. Thecommon technologies often form part of a cloud service or are employed by the cloud service customer(CSC) when using a cloud service.
This document provides a description of a set of common technologies and techniques used inconjunction with cloud computing.
A common technique is a methodology or an approach to performing some of the activities associatedwith cloud computing, as described in ISo/iEC 17789:2014,10.2.22], It is typical of the commontechniques to either reduce the effort needed to make use of cloud services or to enable full use of thecapabilities provided by cloud services..
Many of the common technologies and techniques are used in conjunction when developing andoperating cloud native applications.
The various common technologies and techniques are described in detail in the following clauses. In what follows, text that is extracted from other standards are indicated by placing the extracted textin quotes, using italic text, and providing the exact reference at the end of the extracted text.
Virtual machines and hypervisors are technologies that provide virtualized processing (also knownas virtualized compute) for cloud services. These technologies primarily relate to cloud services ofinfrastructure capabilities type and aaS as described in ISo/IEC 17788 and ISO/IEC 17789.
One of the key characteristics of cloud computing is its ability to share resources. This is fundamentalto its economics, but it is also important to characteristics such as scalability and resilience. Sharing ofprocessing resources requires some level of virtualization. Virtualization in general means that someresource is made available for use in a form that does not physically exist as such but which is made toappear to do so by software. In other words, virtualization provides an abstraction of the underlyingresource, being converted into a software defined form for use by other software entities. The softwareperforming the virtualization enables multiple users to simultaneously share the use of a single physical resource without interfering with each other and usually without them being aware of each other.ISO/IEC TS 23167 pdf download.
