12 Warning system
For Type A, B, C and D appliances which are fitted to the side of a vehicle, a means shall be provided to warn the driver of the vehicle that the appliance is not stored.

NOTE The fitter should seek the advice of the State or Territory vehicle registration authority with regard to the fitting of anchorages.
14 Vehicle access
The installation of the appliances should not cause the occupant to alter their usual seated posture to enter and exit the vehicle.
15 Steps or stairs
The treads and risers of any steps or stairs forming part of the appliance, which are for the use of ambulatory passengers, shall conform to the requirements for stairs in AS 1428.2.
16 Performance requirements
16.1 General
16.1.1 Operation of the appliance when the vehicle is on level ground, on a gradient and at an angle
The following shall apply:
(a) The appliance shall operate when the vehicle is on level ground and on road gradients (pitch) up to 4 degrees.
(b) The appliance shall operate when the vehicle is on level ground and when the vehicle is at an angle of ± 5 degrees (vehicle roll) due to road crowns, depressions, or kerb geographics.AS 3856.2 pdf download.
