2.1 CONNECTION BETWEEN THE FDAS AND ASE
The ASE shall conform to AS 4428.6 and shall be capable of processing and transmitting
the following signals from the FDAS and monitoring centre:
(a) Fire alarm condition.
(b) Fault warning condition.
(c) Disable (isolate) condition.
(d) FDCIE power supply failure.
Transmission paths between the FDAS and ASE shall be supervised by the ASE. ASE conforming to AS 4428.6-1997 shall only be installed where the FDAS signals cannot be isokited/disabled at the ASE.
2.2 CONNECTION BETWEEN THE ASE ANt) MONITORING CENTRE
2.2.1 General
The connection between the ASE and the monitoring centre shall consist of one or more telecommunications paths. In the event of the loss of a connection to a telecommunications path an indication shall be given at both the ASE and the monitoring centre within 100 s.
2.2.2 Network reliability
The connections between all ASE and the monitoring centre shall have an average network reliability of not less than 0.9995 for all ASE connected to the monitoring centre.
The connection between an individual ASE and the monitoring centre shall have a network reliability of not less than 0.99.
Network reliability shall be calculated in accordance with the method in Appendix A.
All equipment that forms part of the telecommunications path from ASE to the monitoring centre, such as signal concentrators, shall be included in the calculation of network reliability.
2.2.3 Monitoring centre protocol
The protocol utilized for the transmission of tire alarm and other signals between an ASE and a monitoring centre shall be in a format specified by the monitoring service provider.
2.2.4 Time clocks
Where provided, all time clocks shall be referenced to a common standard time reference. The ASE and monitoring centre indicating and logging equipment clock shall be synchronized to within one minute of the chosen common standard time reference.
NOTE: Time clocks within the ASE. monitoring centre and fire dispatch centre should be synchronized to the same common standard time reference.
2.3 MAXIMLM TRANSFER TIME
The time from when an alarm signal is input to the ASE to when the signal is received and displayed at the fire dispatch centre shall not exceed 20 s for simultaneous alarm events from 30 sites.AS 1670.3 pdf download.
