This information sheet provides recommended values for dimensional deviations on blanks, center distance and paraiislisni of axes of gears.
Numerical values g,vr ire this document are not to be regarded as strict ISO and AGMA quality cfltena. but may serve as a guide for mutual agreements, for ferrous components.

3 Symbols and definitions
31 Symbols
Symbols used tor deviatona of individual e’iemerit measurements are composed of lower case letters, such as “f ” wh subscnpts, whereas symbols used for “toter deviations, wtiidi may represent combinelions of several in&vidual element deviations, are composed of capital letters, such as “F”, also witti subscripts, see tle 1.
3.2 Definitions
Functional mounting surtaces are the surtaces which are to be used to mount the gear.
The functional axis of the gear is the axis about which the gear rotates in service and is defined by the centers of the functional mounting surtaces. The functional axis is one which is only meaningful when a complete assembly is being considered.
The datum surtaces are those used to define the datum axis.
The datum axis of the gear is defined bythe centers of the datum surtaces. It is the axis to which the gear details, and in particular the pitch, profile, and helix tolerances are defined.
The manufacturing mounting surtaces are surfaces which are to be used to mount the gear during manufacture.
4 Accuracy of gear blanks
This clause is concermned with the selection and adequate specification of the datum axis, the datum surtaces which define it and other associated reference surfaces. Complete tolerancing of the functional surtaces of a part should be in accordance with ISO 1101.AGMA 915-3 pdf download.
