BS 7176:2007 pdf free.Specification for resistance to ignition ofupholstered furniture fornon-domestic seating bytesting composites.
BS 7176 This British Standard specifies requirements for the resistance toignition of upholstered furniture used for seating when tested inaccordance with BS 5852,BS EN 1021-1 or BS EN 1021-2, as
appropriate. The levels ofignition resistance have been set after carefulconsideration of the fire risk of the particular end-use environmentinvolved. These levels do not necessarily reflect the behaviour of theupholstered seating in a fully developed fire.
Upholsteredseating for domesticuseandtransportisnotcovered bythis standard.
NOTE Guidance on the applicability of hazard categories to particularpremises is given in the Notes to Table 1.

NOTE It is important to realize that the listing of types of premises underdifferent hazard categories in Table 1 is given for guidance only and thatthe classification of a particular premises into one of the hazard
categories is a decision to be made by the nominated responsible personaccountable for the fire safety of the premises and its contents.
Thecomposite shall meetthe levels ofignitionresistance giveninTable 1 when testedin accordance withthetest methodsspecifiedinTable 1 (see Clause 5).
Furniture which has been demonstrated to meet the requirements ofthe Furniture and Furnishings (Fire)(Safety)Regulations 1988(SI 1324:1988 [1],SI 2358:1989 [2] and SI 207:1993 [3]) shall bedeemedto meettherequirements for thelow hazardcategory.Itshallalso be deemed to meet the requirements for medium, high and veryhigh hazard categories for resistance to ignition by a smoulderingcigarette and match flame equivalent source.
NOTE The ignitability performance specified for upholstered furniturefor different end-uses varies according to the level of risk associated witha particular environment as shown in Table 1.BS 7176 pdf download.
