2.1 SCOPE OF SECTION
This Section specifies the minimum general requirements applicable to PVC pressure pipes and fittings.
2.2 (‘OIPOStTION
The material from which the pipes and fittings arc produced shalt consist of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) together with additises necessary for the manufacture and performance requirements of this Standard. Such additives shall include a minimum of 1.5 parts of rutllc titanium dioxide (110:) per 104) paris per mass of PVC. This requirement does not apply to fittings greater thaii DN 150 with non-interference fit parallel sockets. The PVC content of the pipe or titling shall be not less than 113.3%. Establishment of the Ti02 and PVC content shall be achieved by the use of process control methods. Rework material of the same composition, regenerated from the manutacturers own production of pipes and fittings made to this Standard may be used. Additives containing compounds based on lead (Pb). cadmium (Cd) or mercury (ltg) shall not be used.
2.3 I)l%IFNSIONS
The dimensions of the pipes and fittings, measured in accordance with ASNZS 1462.1. shall conform to the dimensions given in this Standard.
Out-of-roundness of the outside diameter shall be measured within 24 h from the time of manufacture.
Out-of-roundness tolerances apply to Classes PN 9. PN 12. PN IS. PN 16. PN lx and PN 20 only.
2.4 (OLOL’R
2.4.1 SerIes I
Series I pipes for drinking waler application shall be white,
2.4.2 Series 2
Series 2 pipes for drinking water applications shall be light blue and neither lighter than RAL 204) 90 10 or RAL 21090 10 nor darker than RAL 200 110 25 or RAL 2)0 X() 25.
2.4.3 Rec’clcd water
Series I and Series 2 pipes specified for recycled ater applications shall he purple. The colour shall be neither lighter than RAL 310 70 15 nor darker than RAE 330 40 40 or RAt. 3105030.
2.4.4 Scer
Pipes intended for pressure sewerage applications shall be cream. The colour shall be
neither lighter than RAL 0110 90 20. nor darker than RAL 075 110 20.
2.4.5 Other colours
Other colours may be supplied by agreement between the purchaser and nianutacturer.
