Unless specified by the parties concerned, this Standard does not specifically apply to—
(I) installation of boilers. pressure vessels and pressure piping covered by AS 3892;
(ii) operation, servicing and maintenance of boilers, pressure vessels and piping covered by AS 3873;
(iii) in-service inspection of pressure equipment covered by AS/NZS 3788, except where such inspections identify a need for a fitness for service assessment, an alteration. modification or repair as indicated in Item (c) above; or
(iv) miniature boilers complying with the AMBSC Code.
It may be applied to similar equipment where agreed by parties concerned.
1.4 REFERENCEI) I)OCUMINTS
The documents referred to in this Standard are listed in Appendix A.
1.5 DEFINITIONS
For the purposes of this Standard, the definitions in AS 4942 and those below apply.
1.5.1 Alteration
A change to pressure equipment where the change may impair health or safety, hut does not
include safe routine maintenance, repair or replacement where the equipment is returned to
a state that matches the original design.
1.5.2 Accreditation body
A body that conducts and administers an accrcditatwri system and grants accreditation.
1.5.3 Audit
A full or partial formal review performed by an accredited or approved auditing organization in which compliance or non-compliance with all the system elements prescribed in the quality management Standard is ascertained.
1.5.4 Certification body
A body accredited or approved Ibr the purpose of certifying quality’ systems, design verifying bodies, manufacture inspection bodies, in-service inspection bodies or personnel.
1.5.5 Certified
Certified by a certification body.
1.5.6 Competent person
A person who has acquired, through education, training, qualification or experience or a combination of these, the knowledge and skill enabling that person to perform the task required.
1.5.7 Conformity
Fulfilment of a requirement.
NOTE: The term ‘confonnance’ is synonymous. Compare with ‘compliance’, which is taken to mean ‘to act in accordance with’.
1.5.8 Conformity assessment (CA)
Any activity’ concerned with determining directly or indirectly that relevant requirements are fulfilled.
