AS 1670.4:2015 pdf free.Fire detection, warning, control and intercom systems – System design, installation and commissioning Part 4: Emergency warning and intercom systems.
1.4 DEFINITIONS
For the purpose of this Standard the definitions given in AS 2484.2, AS 7240.1, the
National Construction Code (NCC), and those below, apply:
1.4.1 Alert signal
An audible signal, a visual signal, a tactile signal or any combination of these, that calls attention to a hazardous or dangerous situation.
The alert signal to alert designated chief and area wardens is the default alert signal specified in AS 4428.16.
NOTE: Other tones or signal patterns are allowed if more appropriate for use for other emergencies, or where the ambient noise will mask the 520 lIz tone.
1.4.2 Baseline data
Data derived from the approved design and commissioning which serves as a basis for subsequent comparison with the data derived from inspection, test and survey.
1.4.3 Emergency call point
A manual call point used to initiate the EWS emergency condition.
1.4.4 Emergency warning signal
Alert signal or evacuate signal with or without pre-recorded voice message or live speech.
1.4.5 Emergency zone
The whole of a subdivision of premises where—
(a) the occurrence of an emergency within it will be separately indicated from any other subdivision; and
(b) the emergency warning signal and/or live speech is broadcast separately from any other subdivision.
NOTI: The term ‘emergency zone’ is used interchangeably with the term ‘evacuation zofle’ used in AS 2220.1 and AS 3745.
1.4.6 Evacuate signal
An audible signal, a visual signal, or a combination of both that indicates the need for the immediate evacuation of an emergency zone.
NOTE: it is recommended that the default 520 Hz tone as defined in AS 4428.16 be used. Other tones are allowed that may he more appropriate where the ambient noise will mask the 520 Hz tone.
1.4.7 Extra-low voltage customer cables
A cable carrying a voltage defined as extra-low voltage (ELV) in AS/CA S009.
1.4.8 Low voltage (power)
Electrical power voltage as defined in AS/NZS 3000.
1.4.9 Low voltage (telecommunications)
A voltage exceeding ELV limits as defined in AS/CA S009.
1.4.10 Low voltage telecommunications circuit
Customer cable carrying telecommunication low voltage (LV) as defined in AS/CA S009, e.g. a 100 VAC audio circuit.AS 1670.4 pdf download.
